How to become a volunteer

Volunteers Cancer Aid Merthyr Tydfil rely on our fantastic volunteers who give up their free time, to volunteer within our organisation. Other volunteer opportunities include fundraising or promotion. Should you wish to discuss any of the volunteering roles, please contact the centre on 01685 379633 for an informal discussion.

Words from our volunteers

Roles Include

Drivers

Our volunteer drivers are the backbone to our transport service. Their role involves picking up the client from their home, taking them to their hospital appointment and returning them home. All drivers are CRB checked. All transport appointments are kept strictly confidential.

Drop In Centre

The drop in centre volunteers are the first point of contact for our clients. This role involves answering the telephone, welcoming new clients. A volunteer is always present during the drop in opening hours, to make a cup of tea or have a chat.

Charity Shop Volunteers

The role in the charity shop is varied. Volunteers help out, by sorting through donations, pricing items and ensuring the shop is clean and tidy. They are also responsible for taking payments.
