Fraud/Scam Alert

We would like to inform everyone that there is a scam circulating, our charity was targeted by these people claiming to be a BT engineer saying we had reported a Fault on our line this was not true our phones lines were fine. Our calls were being diverted to the fraudster who then tried to cash a cheque at one of the pawnbrokers using our charity logo. When the check to our landline telephone number was made a man answered the phone claiming to be our chairman to verify that this was genuine. The staff member of the pawnbrokers was suspicious and did not proceed with payment. This is clearly an organised operation so please pass this on to as many people as you can. A huge thank you to the member of staff at the pawnbrokers for alerting us. We are in very difficult and challenging times at the moment with Covid-19 but this does not stop criminals targeting charities, businesses and individuals.

Please stay alert to anything suspicious.
Stay safe and well.
